Absolutely great. And recommendable. I was there with a friend and I am convinced that I will come again. In terms of time everything went very quickly. Drinks ordered and brought directly. In addition, a welcome drink. We had bruschetta as a starter and a salad for the main course. Both very tasty. Then there was my ordered pikeperch with crabs and boiled potatoes. Also very delicious. The staff was very attentive and friendly. We also felt comfortable in the space. Nice and spacious and separate from other tables. Food not seasoned enough. Wiener-style schnitzel with french fries and turkey schnitzel with chanterelles, mushrooms and fried potatoes. Strictly speaking, both are not edible despite seasoning with pepper and salt. Fried potatoes were actually just cooked and lightly tossed in the pan. Maybe the actual cook was sick. Especially if you like to cook yourself and have a chef in the family, you don't like to be told that you can season with salt and pepper on the table. Salad was ok. Too bad.

First of all the positive: the service was very nice and we got our food very quickly (well, we were the only guests). We ordered a selection of starters, focaccia, bruschetta, an antipasti plate, crispy rolls with dip and a broccoli casserole. What is offered here, I can do better at home in my kitchen. Everything was very slack. The focaccia was tasty, the rest was miserable. The casserole had no cream sauce but just swam in warm cream. The antipasti plate was just a salad with paprika and zucchini antipasti art. The highlight were the "crispy" rolls from Aldi (not that they're bad, just don't fit in an Italian restaurant, I expect more) and the "herb dip", which consisted of mayonnaise with herbs. Bruschetta was served on the same rolls, not seared until crispy. It may be that we actually caught the worst dishes on the menu, then my tip would be: Stick to pasta and pizza, because the focaccia tasted good and homemade, maybe that's the hobbyhorse ?!

Very good All food was of very good quality at reasonable prices, especially the rump steak was really great, the waiters were nice and friendly, quick service and reasonable waiting time ... only the wheat beer was way too warm ...

The food is very enjoyable and the staff very friendly. The ambience is authentic and cozy, the restaurant itself is huge. Accordingly, the waiters find it difficult to follow up. You often have to ask for cutlery. Still a very nice place to go out with the family. Always happy.

Nice service but I would not really call the food authentic Italian though, more like German food with Italian influence. Wine selection is also disappointing.

Delicious food, good prices and very friendly service. I would recommend the outdoor seating, as indoors it can feel a little hectic, since there's lots of other customers walking by you to get to their place. Still, you'll feel very comfortable and at ease here.

Very good Italian in the middle of downtown Wittenberg. I've known this restaurant for over 10 years and - out of solidarity - I like to come here with my best friend. The prices are ok, the menu reads well. Il Castello is always busy, especially on public holidays, so it is advisable to make a reservation. Pizza and pasta cost around € 10, meat dishes between € 15 and € 20. After we sat there for an hour and waited for our food, it was finally served by the friendly waiter. The service is pleasant and hard-working, but if the restaurant is full, you have to plan long waiting times. My fresh pasta with (very little) salmon tasted good. The portion size was also good. There was the pepper I wanted, instead of Parmesan another cheese was served, but also doable. My girlfriend's pizza was ok, but - like the other two dishes - not a highlight. Maybe I just missed love, but there are far better Italians out there. This one convinces with location and prices. If you want to eat “nice” or “romantic”, you probably don't come here. But this place is suitable for a lunch or a snack (with time). Parking spaces are within walking distance, toilets clean, outdoor seating available.
